I stumbled upon Belesar during my first trip to Madrid and just loved the vibe - small, cool music, a bit raw. Since then, I've made it a point to stop in every time I have the good fortune to be in Madrid. True to my Rain Man-like instinct to develop a routine, I pop into the Reina Sofia during their free hours (7-9), and then come here for drinks or drinks and dinner. The food, by the way, is excellent.
Come to Madrid, see art, see live music, eat food here. You're welcome.
Cute little spot, had the pimientos, jamon, chorizo, and seafood arroz. Pimientos were really tasty, nicely grilled, lightly oiled, dabble of coarse salt. Jamon and chorizo were pretty standard. Seafood arroz took forever to make as it contained two crabs, four prawns, and some mussels. Pretty tasty, though a bit of a mess to eat.
Great fun atmosphere, a one-woman wonder if a waitress/bartender, and spectacular tapas. Still full the next day. Everything cooked to perfection. Grilled vegetables, razor clams, octopus, squid, sausages, croquettes. All terrific.
